Very Rare South African Dinky & correct Box. ‘A Diecast Gem’
History
I remember the day I bought this model through Vectis Auctions back in 2006 and the BBC where there. I was interviewed re the purchase for one of their ‘Inside Out’ programs which was only broadcast locally in the Tyneside area. I remember the interview so well and my hope and plan was not to say a single ‘Um’ or ‘Err’ during the interview. If I got any tongue tie to slow my speech and allow my brain to get back in synch with my speech. It worked and was one of my own personal proudest moments. I said no umms or errs.
Distributed through a company ‘Arthur E Harris’ during the apartheid conflict in the early 1960’s there were possibly only one or two shipments of parts sent frfom the UK where installation and packing was completed in South Africa.

This is one of my favourite models from my collection. A very rare South African Dinky toy in Dark grey upper section and off white lower section in pristine mint condition. It has a red interior and silver spun shaped wheels. As new ‘M’ tyres and opening-sliding windows. The base is more or less scratch free and has the correct SA rivets.
Fully light tested and no indication of any past touch-ins.

Excellent Plus - Minor edge wear, starter tears or heavy pricing. Could also be graffiti or tape residue, but good overall.

Box Condition
Provided in a correct South African box which is complete with all flaps and no repairs. There are a couple of starter tears but I would not suggest any repair at this stage. The box has good shape with minor creases. As I often quote the box in South African is even rarer than the models.
